Kick-bike racing Kick-bike racing

A race held at the side of my usual bikeway.

Looks this no-pedal bike is called kick-bike.

623.@A way to stretch a long wire

Jyorou-guma It is the time spiderwebs stand out.

This is a jorou-spider cobweb spanning the eaves of our place and the next door.

What procedures the spider takes to stretch the threads?

"To descend to the ground while extending a thread, and to cross the fence and to climb along the wall to the roof of the next door - - -"
doesn't look to work well.

In the case of extra-high-voltage transmission lines which have about 500 m span, a small-diameter wire is first extended between the towers by a helicopter, thereafter it is progressibly replaced with larger-diameter wires.

This looks the most rational way. And I had wondered if the spiders take the similar steps.
Then, I found a page titled "Dr. Akiba's food and agriculture" in the "JA group Fukuoka" website. It says YES, and explains the steps by manga.  here

Well, Great. A person with a doctorate investigates various things in his field of expertise.

The spiders first fly a thin thread in the wind, and progressibly make it thicker, the same way as that for the power lines.

Well, rather, the fact is that the power indutry simply mimic the steps taken by the jorou-spider.

622. An act of guerrilla?

Akabosi-gomadara-chou A born-in-summer akabosi-gomadara-chou seen at a nearby roadside. Looks the leading edge of the left wing is hurt.

This is an invasive species, originated in Vietnam, China and Korea, and very recently appeared around this area.

The first sighting is in 1995 at Akigase park, Saitam. Initially it was thought a transient phenomenon, but later it has increased here in Kantou area.

There is a data-base of "Invasive Species of Japan" in the website of the "National Institute for Environmental Studies" at Tukuba. In the "invasive route" column in its page for this butterfly,  here , the following is mentioned.

Deliberate: Possibly release by some people (gbutterfly release guerrillah)

Though I doubt if the national institute use such a word like "butterfly release guerrilla", there must be a sure circumstantial evidence for the fact that someone intentionally, not accidentaly, brought the butterfly into here and released.

621. The 15th-day great moon

Tukimi kazari Today Sep. 10 corresponds to Aug. 15 of the old calendar. The day to appreciate the fifteenth-day moon.

In terms of the season, it is much earlier than usual year. At this area, most of the susuki grass for the offering to the moon have not had their ears yet.

Anyhow, managed to find out the suitable ones, and made the offering as in the photo.

620. Yabu-ran

Yabu-ran A yabu-ran blooming at a corner at my place.

The adjacent one with berries is a manryou.

Both look to like this sort of an odd placeB
